The registration for the 4th International Marine Protected Areas Congress, IMPAC 4, includes the following:
- Access to all official activities of IMPAC4 at the venue and any other locations part of the event (NOTE: entry might be limited by the organisers and/or subject to the capacity of the specific spaces)
- Each participant will receive one daily “lunch pack”, including: a sandwich or wrap, fruit, cereal bar and water. Gluten free/vegetarian options will also be available
- Coffee and snacks during the four days of the congress (during coffee breaks).
- Access to the opening ceremony and the official reception.
- A welcome package with information about the congress

The registration DOES NOT cover:
Access to field trips (see below for extra information and costs).
- Travel, local transportation and lodging.
- Other meals
- Access to private or “by invitation only” side events or activities.
The program will be available on the website on July. The registration will ONLY be online. The accreditation will take place at the Hotel and Convention center, starting on Friday 1st, September 2017.
IMPAC4 would also like to reach people working on MPAs that are not usually attendees to these type of events: young professionals, people from least developed countries (LDC) and Latin-America and the Caribbean (LAC). With this purpose, eligible participants will access to a special reduced fee. Because this is a limited quota, we strongly recommend an early registration. The fees and quotas for each case are explained in the table below:
REDUCED FEE REQUIREMENTS:
To apply, applicants must provide a valid passport or ID.
- Young professionals: 32 years old or younger at the time of registration.
- Nationality of the LDC and LAC countries: Holder of valid passport issued by one of the following countries: http://www.un.org/en/development/desa/policy/cdp/ldc/ldc_list.pdf
NOTE: People from other nationalities but working in LDC and LAC are not eligible for a discount special or quota
FIELD TRIPS
The field trip experience organised by IMPAC4 will take participants to the local MPAs during the days previous to the congress (Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd the MPA´s will be close for general public.
During the field trip, visitors will enjoy a full day of thematic visits to semi-desert islands of Isla Damas, Choros e Isla Chañaral. These three islands are part of the national reserve “Pinguino de Humboldt”, administered by CONAF. The surrounding water of the three islands are part of the marine reserves “Choros-Damas” and “Isla Chañaral” administered by The National Fishery Service (Sernapesca). These MPAs are home of the biggest population of Humboldt Penguins, sea lions, seabirds, kelp forests, whales and bottle nose dolphins.
This experience has a maximum capacity of 300 people per day (600 people in total), with an additional cost of US75, payable at the time of the online registration.

Visitors will have the possibility to choose one of the following two destinations: Islas Choros -Damas or Isla Chañaral.
The field trips will depart from the convention center at 7:00 am approx., to return around 18:30.
The US$75 Field trips fee includes: transportation by bus, a boat trip to the islands (1hr 30 minutes), a fresh seafood lunch on site, entrance ticket to the MPAs and a guided tour by a specialist.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Field trips execution are subject to weather conditions. If the specialist guides at arrival to port consider that current conditions might be dangerous for visitors, organisers have considered the alternative to visit an astronomical center instead. This option will be available at the time of registration online.
Those registrants that pay for a field trip, but are not interested in the second option will get a US$25 refund fee in case the visit to the islands does not take place.
